Hyundai accent in rental car grey for the week in San Diego. Let's see how well it can canyon carve! I'll be sure to give it my best review when I am done with it. I am glad so far that it is light enough to get out of its own way, speakers are good for some classic rock on the ride home from work, and it's not a smart car or Nissan versa.

One of my coworkers has the exact same car.
I've never been horribly disappointed by any Hyundai rental car I've ever had.

I can't really complain since I'm not paying for it, but I do wish it were the hatch version since I never really like sedans. I've been using the shifter in "manual" mode which is entertaining even though it won't let me redline it lol.

Head out the 8 east and take the Harbison canyon exit. Take the turn to the right and enjoy....look out of bikes though, it is where they head on the weekend. Let me know if you need to know what to do in SD.

I'll definitely hit that up tomorrow, thanks for the suggestion. If you have a favorite restaurant suggestion, I'd definitely take that as well. Seems like a cool city so far and staying in Gaslamp makes a lot of things easy to get to.

Make sure to hit up the San Diego Automotive Museum and the Midway Aircraft-Carrier museum(some awesome planes and ship stuff to look at, plus you'll be on an actual aircraft carrier!). The San Diego Air and Space museum is also rather awesome; they have a ton of planes, artifacts, space stuff and some really rare/one of a kind stuff too. Those were some of my favorite things while in San Diego for vacation, in addition to the Zoo and Sea World. Here is my trip to the automotive museum:

I believe they change out the exhibits pretty regularly, but I would expect some pretty spectacular stuff regardless.
We had a light blue-ish gray Hyundai, but it was a Sonata when we went there just before Thanksgiving last year.

I have a soft spot for the Accent and its Kia twin, the Rio. Yes, they sound like a lawn tractor, but they're honest little cars. I'd rather have a Mazda2, a Fiesta, or maybe a Fit before either, but they're OK.

The first and second generation Accents kinda sucked to drive. 2005 and beyond are quite nice. Look forward to your thoughts on the rental.
I'm with you on the Versa; I had one as a rental and there was nothing "versa-tile" about it; it was a typical shitbox with nothing to justify a price that approached Honda Fit territory.

I ended up taking the 54 to 94 and then hopped on Lyons Valley Road which snaked through Cleveland National Forest for some pretty good twisties. I actually eventually found Harbison Canyon Road which was pretty great but short. Overall a pretty good drive followed by a traffic hell to get home lol. Totally worth it though!

Yeah, rush hours suck but the weather makes up for a lot of that stuff.

My Fiat likes the canyon roads pretty well too.
